The Rectification Movement in 1957 was initiated by the Communist Party members represented by Mao Zedong. It was a meaningful try for the establishment of the Party and the coming climax of the complete construction of socialism society. It did made some progress but finally ended up because of the magnified Anti-rightist struggle. Though the Central Party Committee had already had final verdict about it, yet because of the unexpected result, different views upon the Rectification Movement in 1957 and the Anti-Rightist Movement have spreaded for half a century. Just behind these views are all kinds of point views and denouncement about Mao Zedong and the Central Party Committee. Among them, a comparatively typical one stated that the Rectification Movement and the Anti-Rightist Movement were"a great conspiracy"of Mao Zedong, while the mistaken Rightists were"sacrifice of the iron tyranny". Learning from this, this article tries to analyse and sort carefully the reasons why the Central Party Committee and Mao Zedong initiated the Rectification Movement, and give objective and fair comments on the Rectification Movement and the Anti-Rightist Movement as well as Mao Zedong. The ultimate purpose of comments on historical events and figures is to summarize experiences, learn lessons, and serve the construction of socialism with Chinese characters as well as a socialism harmonious society. Thus the experience and lessons for their own sake can be of academic value and practical significance.According to the existed documents and materials and using comprehensive analysis method, this article tries to gain the advantages of all the theories. It emphasize on the reasons why the Central Party Committee and Mao Zedong initiated the Rectification Movement in 1957 , gives comments on it, and also summarize the success and failure of the Movement.
