The advance of the globalization process urged China to accelerate its integrationin the international system. China's interest, national identity and status have beenchanging over time. This not only requests us to think within a domestic framework, but also in the international framework towards which direction these changes aretaking place. This research shows the increasing importance and urgency of animproved analysis on China's increasing integration in the international system.Investigating the influence of the international system on China's behavior contributesto give a step further on the understanding on the changes on China's diplomaticbehavior and on its internal mechanisms, thus suggesting a more mature posture forChina in its international integration. This research therefore examines the interactionbetween China and the international system, discussing the influence of theinternational system on China's interests and brings forward my views on how toconsider China's national interest in the international framework. It is based on the constructivist theory of international relations, through theanalytic model of "unique belief-benefits-behavior-transformation", establishing theanalytic model of normative stages of socialization -internalization stages, to analyzethe influence of the international system on China's identity and national interests. Itintroduces the motives of choosing the topic, current research situation, theframework of analysis and innovation in the foreword. The first chapter analyzes howthe international system constructs the Chinese identity and interests, including thetwo angles of view on international system research, the international system ofconstructivist theory and the international system's role in the formation of China'sidentity. The second chapter examines the role of China in the campaign againstnuclear proliferation in the framework of international security and China's ownsecurity interests. It observes the change of China's identity from "special nuclearcountry" to "common nuclear country" within China's security interests. The third chapter studies the case of the international economic system and China's owneconomic interests, through China's "dissociated" identity in the world market,"ordinary participant" identity and "positive, stable participant" in the internationaleconomic system, according to China's own economic interests. Finally, the fourthchapter discusses the case of China's identity in the international society systemthrough public diplomacy, through the identities of "foreign propagandist", "maturepropagandist" and "founder of the public diplomatic system", as well as China'snational image in this sphere.
