The worseness of the global environment makes people realize that the environmental pollution and the unballance of the natural ecosystem wil endanger mankind's survival and development, therefore, environmental protection is the common responsibility of the whole world. The developed countries have built the complete wall for the green trade in order to protect the environment and the domestic market. A lot of treaties appear in the International Law related to environmental protection, which is also noticed by the World Trade Organization(WTO). Environment and trade are one of the hot topics under discussion. Many agreements and regulations about environmental protection disperse in the WTO system. However, the wall for the green trade adjusts to the sustainable development. As a measure of the new trade protection, it also prohibits the development of the global free trade, espe, the import and export trade in some developing countries just like China. In recent years, some Chinese commodities exported to developed countries were refused and detained. It is the wall for the green trade which results in this phenomenon. This essay gives a detailed analysis about the wall for the green trade, such as the definition, the cause and the formation, features and manifestation, etc. It also discusses the law basis of the wall for the green trade and indicates the legitimacy in a long range. Finally the author states the effects of ther wall for the green trade on international trade, developing countries and our country as well as our response to it. Meanwhile, some measures are suggetsed to stride over the wall for the green trade and to construct our system, which will promote the sustainable development of the foreign trade in China. The ultimate goal is to protect environment and promote the foreign trade. I believe this essay will be of vital significance in the research of the wall for the green trade.
