The research on the management of international crisis begun since 1960s. Scholars and Politicians have been trying to answer the following questions: why some crises resulted in wars, while others were managed properly? Under which situation could the crisis be controlled? How to reach an agreement accepted by all parties to end the crisis? Peace and development are the themes of the times. It is the responsibility of all leaders and researchers to deal with international crises appropriately. We have learned from history whether the crisis could be controlled mainly determined by the character of itself and the purposes of the units participated in the management of it. There are two levels in the crisis management: domestic and abroad. The international crises are presenting some new characteristics featuring the multilateralism of the units, the transformation of the aims, the multiple of the means, the diversity of the models in the post cold war era. The model of third-party involvement in international crisis management will be the most popular one in the 21st century due to its flexibility. On one hand, it could work out a scheme, written or verbal, for the peaceful settlement of the crisis. On the other hand, it could compel the parties involved in the crisis to put down arms by force. The UN and some global or regional organizations are playing increasingly important role in the management of international crisis nowadays, contrary to the cold war era in which the US and Soviet Union were the main players.Darfur is a tribal region in western Sudan. As part of the greater Sahara region, Darfur is mostly desert, and there are only scattered patches of land suitable for agriculture in the region. During the 1960s and 1970s, continued droughts and desertification led to frequent tribal conflicts over water, pasture and farmland among farmers and herdsmen. The escalation of these clashes deteriorated the security situation in the region and eventually triggered large-scale conflicts between armed rebel groups in Darfur and government forces in 2003, making Darfur a hotspot of international attention, Caused by scarcity of natural resources, poverty and backwardness, the Darfur crisis is in essence, a development issue, and can only be resolved through reconstruction and development.China and the United States are participating in the management of Darfur crisis actively The two countries have different ideas on the means of crisis management. However, they are pursuing the same goal to some extent. The Sino-Us cooperation is the key to the crisis management. The trilateral mechanism, formed by the UN, the AU (African Union) and the Sudanese Government, is now playing a leading role in the process of the Darfur crisis management. The unit of this new model is multiple rather than unitary. The mean is plural rather than single, the aim is multi-fold rather other one-fold. Due to the concerted efforts of the international community, the measures prescribed in the Annan three-step blueprint and bilateral-channel, are now being put into effect, and the situation in Darfur has been gradually improved and is turning for the better.China is deeply concerned about the situation in Darfur and is committed to an early and proper settlement of the issue. China has engaged extensively with various parties through visits, calls, correspondence, international meetings and coordinated efforts at the UN to narrow differences and increase mutual trust among all parties concerned. China worked with the relevant parties to bring about an agreement among the UN, the AU, and the Sudanese Government on the deployment of UN/AU "hybrid mission" in Darfur. The Chinese Government appointed a special representative for Darfur in May 2007. Under China's efforts when it held the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council in July 2007, the Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1769, which is a major step forward in international efforts to resolve the Darfur crisis.China will take part in international affaires and international crisis management deeply and extensively, to adapt to the development of situation, to answer for the call of China's responsibility, to stick up for China's interests as well. More efforts should be made to improve the regime of China's international crisis management. At the same time, public diplomacy should be developed to improve the image of China.
