Moral authority is an important category in the field of moral theory research. It is the result of interaction between values and moral standards,which has profound implications on individual formation of moral values,as well as promoting social morality.Moral authority is a kind of strong mental power which can lead people to hold morality in awe,to believe in and consciously safeguard morality.It is the source and fundamental dynamic of all moral behaviors,meanwhile it reflects the human's eternal persuit for ultimate good.Therefore,the exist of moral authority is necessary and valuable,no matter for the view of social stability and development,or for school moral education and psychological development of children.Nowadays,under the complicated background of social transformation,moral authority has been greatly challenged and questioned,which bings in secious moral problems and social cricis,such as the loss of moral belief,the disorder of value crientation and the demoralization of behavior.It is no doubt that the loss of moral authority has already become the symbolism of severe moral crisis,and also the new task which the school education must face.When the social morality is in danger of disintegration,the school education didn't play his important role of leading human's spirit life,on the contrary it unconsciously alienated himself,lost his spirit homeland,which resulted in crisis of meaning of life and the collapse of ultimate belief. The fundamental deficiency of modern education lies in its failure function of moral cultivation and the loss of character training.School education has departured its true meaning and became the absolute tool of chasing desire.It is the basic problem of modern education that fogetting its responsibility for cultivating students'capability of moal life,and also the most failure of shool education.This paper analyses the current situation of loss of moral authority,explores the connotation and the necessity of moral authority,studies the background and manifestation of the loss of moral authority,and then rethinking the modern moral education,try to find the origin of school education.At last ,proposes that remoulding moral authority should be the inevitable mission of current school moral education,and some measures and steps must be taken for this purpose.
