A sense of honor and disgrace as the fundamental concept of right and wrong of a nation has always been the essence of Chinese civilization. A correct sense of honor and disgrace can make a nation's healthy and progressive development and promote the harmonious development of a society. Conversely a wrong sense of honor and disgrace will make a nation degenerate and in chaos. In China's economic and social transformation process, because of the ignorance of the education of the sense of honor and disgrace and the outlook of values, the sense of honor and disgrace of some members of the society has been lost and distorted, which has endangered the social harmony and progress. General Secretary Hu Jintao put forward "eight honors and disgraces" as the main content of the socialist sense of honor and disgrace, which hits the current social evils, focus on the overall situation of China's development, faces the future for the Chinese nation, and is closely associated with the current social atmosphere of the outstanding issues and reflects the demands of the times.
