A Constructivist Perspective On Northeast Asia Regional Security Cooperation

By the end of the 20ths century, social constructivism represented by Alexander Wendt has become main one of Western international relations theory. Although the many scholars at home and abroad discussed and studied it, few applied this theory to study the issue of security cooperation in Northeast Asia. This article attempts from the social construction theory to study the Northeast Asia regional security cooperation.Since the late 20th century, the Northeast Asia regional economies started the whole launching, became one of world economic development strongest areas, on the contrary, regional security situation worsened day by day, it is an urgent question how to ease the tense situation and how to found the long-time peace mechanism in the Northeast Asia regional. After the cold war had ended, the international environment is easing, all countries' cooperation and the exchange is increasing unceasingly in the Northeast Asia region, objective dependence deepening gradually, and because of increased global competition, pressure on the internal security highlight, strengthen the sense of common destiny, awareness and recognition in Northeast Asia Re-start germination, this has provided the homogeneous factor for the regional security cooperation. On this basis, the Northeast Asia country restrains own behavior mutually, seeks common development while maintaining difference, so the Northeast Asia regional security culture changed from the Hobbes culture structure to the Locker culture structure. although in the present region still had many contradictions and the dispute, constructing the Northeast Asia security cooperation mechanism becomes all countries' the mutual recognition, the security cooperation dialog is getting more and more frequent, the Northeast Asia region multi-dimensional security community is going to appear. As a rising regional power, China should take the positive policies and measures to promote the Northeast Asia security cooperation development, and play their leading role in order to achieve the maximization of self-interest.
