Studies On The Urban Community Care For The Aged In China

Different social security system for the aged appeared in different productive force development level, community structure, famaily structure. It developped family care for aged, social care for aged, self care for aged and community care for aged. Community Care for the Elderly is emphasized in this paper as the link between the government and the family itself where the family and the government fail to function,the community shows itself to make up for the incapacity of the government and the family.Community care should be all-round,taking into account both the physical and spiritual needs of the aged. This paper analyzes wills and needs of different old people and problems of community service, on the basis of results of a sample survey of Chineses city elderly and a case study of community service in Wuhan. Therefore, communitites, governments and the society should act together. We must take full use of existing resources to establish a comprehensive community service system for the elderly, taking their individual needs into account. In the meantime, it is obvious of the advantage of communtiy care for aged developping in China, for instance, all-round functions, rich resources, levels,opening-up of systems ect. However, it faces with many problems, lack of funds, human resource. This papay analyzes the experience and the mode of the community care for aged in Baibuting community in Wuhan, propose to set up a uniform community care in China and improve the social security system for the aged and better living conditions and health conditions of the aged as well as the conditions for them to participate in social development, so that the aged may live, work, learn, enjoy and be physically cared as pleasantly as possible.
