The Affect Of The UK's Traditional Equilibrium Diplomacy On Establishing Diplomatic Relations Between China And UK

This paper is mainly about the formation and the development of the traditional equilibrium diplomacy of the United Kingdom, and through the analysis of its characteristics, then conclude the cultural origin of the diplomacy. In the new situation after two world wars, such policies also changed to adept to the environmens. The establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Britain is the most important event in this period .So, this paper is going to prove the characteristics of the English equilibrium diplomacy by the analysising the cases of establishment of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and China. And find the evolution of the traditional balance of power diplomacy in the new international situation and its impact of the ties between the United Kingdom and China.The body of this paper is three chapters. First one, study the root causes of the traditional equilibrium diplomacy of the United Kingdom. Secondly, analyzes the complex process of establishing the ties between British and China from the resistance and the impetus. Thirdly, discuss the evolution and new features of the traditional equilibrium diplomacy of British in the new situation, inspect the impact of it on establishing the diplomatic relations between the British and China. The first part, discussed the root causes of the traditional equilibrium diplomacy of the United Kingdom from its characteristic and historical origins, the writer think that the supremacy of national interests, prevent the hegemony on the European continent and keep a distance from the mainland of Europe are its main characteristic. Conservatism, island mentality, the empire complex and pragmatism are its culture origins. The second part, the write think that the United States is the main resistance in the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Britain, showed as Britain follows to the United States on the cases, such as Taiwan, the representative right of the United Nations, Korean War and the problems of 'Two flights' aircraft. The traditional economic and trade exchanges between British and China, Hong Kong's unique role in the links of two nations are the sources of the unbroken relation. On the other hand, the rupture relations between Soviet Union and China and.Changes in United States policy toward China are the direct contributing factor. The third part, the write think that after two world wars, Britain's decline, economic control by the United States are directly lead to the dependence on the United States in its foreign affairs.
