| Fire fighting is a special occupation with high degree of tension and danger. Based on the literature research and interviews, the present study works out a job satisfaction questionnaire about fire fighters. By the item analysis, the exploratory factor analysis, reliability and validity test, and the confirmatory factor analysis, the model turned out to be legitimate. Then the job satisfaction questionnaire of fire fighters and symptom checklist 90,SCL-90 are employed to investigate the present situation of fire fighters'job satisfaction and the relationship between work satisfaction and mental health.The conclusions are as following:(1) the fire fighters' job satisfaction questionaire has good reliability and validity. It consists of 6 factors: the work itself,future development,emotional support,work load,the benefits,organizational policies, 32 items in total;(2)According to the statistics, the overall work satisfaction of this research's sample is on moderate degree. Descending order of the degree of satisfaction : the work itself, emotional support, future development, the benefits, work load, organizational policies;(3) The results shows that there is significant difference between married fire fighters and the unmarried on the factor of work itself; (4) Fire fighters are in love or not have significant difference on the factor of work load;(5) There is also significant difference between different ranks of fire fighters.These significant difference exists in the areas of total significant,work itself, future development and the benefits.(6) Fire fighters who have different rank and standing show significant difference on work satisfaction. These significant difference exists in the areas of total significant, future development, work itselfand ,work load and oranizational policies;(7)The result of regression analysis show that future development,work load,work itself and emotional support in work satisfaction have the affect of predict.
