Study On The Effects Of Social Stratum, Social Support, Social Attitude, Adapting Strategy On Male Criminality

On the base of Strain Theory and General Strain Theory included in Anomie theoretical frame,this study Proposes the theoretical hypothesis about Chinese criminal phenomena in the transition period.Crime is related to social structure.Differentiation of social stratum makes the underclass bear more social structural strain,and individual perceptions on stratum aggravate the feeling about strain and affect their social attitude, furthermore,affect their choice tendency of adaptive strategies and the criminality.In the course,social support could relieve the feeling of strain and regulate the effect of strain on the choice tendency of adaptive strategies and criminal behavior.On the base of the theoretical hypothesis, the practical research hypotheses are proposed.Objective:This study uses Social Support Rating Scale(SSAS), Social Attitude Questionnaire and Social Adaptive Strategy Scale to invest 765 male criminals and 435 normal men.First,the study analyses the characteristics of social support,social attitude and social adaptive strategy of the criminals,then analyses the relation of these variables.At these bases,the study builds a Logistic regression equation of criminal behaviors, as to invest the effect of social status,education,social support,social attitude and adaptive strategy.Totally,this study gets the conclusions as following:(1)The individuals' inferior Positions in society affect the criminal behaviors remarkably.The crime rate in disadvantaged stratum is higher significantly than that in other stratums. (2)The social attitude score of the individuals who have high social support is higher significantly than that of the lowers.So,social support is a good variable to predict social attitude.(3)Social attitude has remarkable predict effect on the social adaptive strategy.That is to say,the individuals whose social attitudes are positive prefer to choose adaptive strategies.The individuals whose social attitudes are negative prefer to choose the adaptive strategies that are aberrant.(4)Social attitude is an mediator factor between social support and adaptive strategies,and simultaneously social support directly influences adaptive strategies.(5)The Logistic regression analysis shows that the equation is an accepted one.The model shows that education,cognition of social stratum, social support,conformity strategy and innovation strategy have significant effects on criminal behavior.The prediction power of social stratum cognition is the strongest.The education and social support take second place.Conformity and innovation have the weakest effects.
