Political Attitudes And Political Participation Of The New Social Stratum

Since the Reform and Opening,the old social stratum of China has been broken and different kinds of groups has appeared during this period.In this setting,the new social stratum has come into being and to some extent,it means some changes has happened in social stratum structure.The new social stratum in this thesis includes two groups that are non-public economy individuals and freelance intellectuals.In order to maintain the consistency,we take occupation as division standard to differentiate the new social stratum and the social middle stratum in this thesis.Hence,the social middle stratum in this thesis can be divided into two parts,which are whose who working in the system and those who working outside the system.So in this thesis,the new social stratum means the middle stratum people who works outside the system.When it comes to talk about contents,firstly we have compared the difference of political attitudes between the new social stratum and other social stratum.Specifically,the other social stratum mentioned above that contains three groups shown as following,the lower social stratum people who works outside the system,the middle stratum people who works in the system and the lower social stratum people who works outside the system.Secondly,within the new social stratum,we have compared the difference of political attitudes between the non-public economy individuals and freelance intellectuals.At last,we have explored whether the political attitudes of the new social stratum have an impact on its political participation.Through analysis,we have got some findings.Foremost,the system has no influence on political attitudes.For instance,there is no difference between the new social stratum and the middle stratum people who works in the system,except for the government trust.Then compared with non-public economy individuals,the freelance intellectuals own a more liberal political attitudes.Thirdly,both subjective stratum identification and unfair treatment have a great influence on political attitudes.Fourthly,we have found that there do exist some relationships among thesefactor which are stratum,attitude and behavior.Taking the new social stratum for example,its political attitudes do have an influence on its political participation.However,we should pay attention the the aspects that the political participation includes non-institutional political participation and institutional political participation.So we can't simply conclude the function of new social stratum according to the relationship between its political attitudes and political participation.
