The theory of total compensation has been rapidly developed since it was introduced.Exploring the issue of civil servants' compensation incentive with this theory has a positive significance for government to attract and retain talent people and enhance the job satisfaction of civil servants.The object of the study focuses on civil servants.Based on the theory of total compensation and in reference to well-prepared questionnaires,this thesis creates a questionnaire investigation on civil servants' compensation incentive factors.After a small-scale test and modifications to the questionnaire,the formal questionnaire was formed.Analyzing the data by SPSS(statistical software),the following conclusions are reached:1.The results reveal that five dimensions related with the compensation incentive factors of civil servants are job itself,job feeling,personal development,interpersonal relationships and work conditions.It is found that training opportunities,work environments,work responsibility,position promotion,direct economic compensation, and work team are the most powerful factors in predicting the compensation incentive degree.2.The overall degree of compensation incentive for civil servants is between medium and active states.Three factors including direct economic compensation, interpersonal relationships and position promotion are considered by civil servants as the most important compensation incentive factors.3.The differences on the ground of demographic variables between compensation incentive degree and compensation factors feeling are as follows:(1) Marriage status and length of service have no significant influences on the overall compensation incentive degree and the feeling degree of each dimension of compensation factors.(2) Gender,age,monthly income and departments have significant differences on the overall compensation incentive degree and the feeling degree of each dimension of compensation factors.
