Since Vietnam carried out "doi moi" policy in 1986,it has made significant diplomatic achievement to the United States.Especially aider the Cold War,the bilateral relations between the two countries have made a comprehensive and rapid development.Two countries established diplomatic relations in 1995,signed a trade agreement in 2000;Bill Clinton visited Vietnam in November 2000;Phan Van Khai visited the United States in June 2005;The United States supported Vietnam's accession to the WTO and give most favored nation trade status to Vietnam.In particular,after "9.11 ",the U.S.adjusted its policy in Southeast Asia.The United States believes that Vietnam is an important strategic position in this region.So the United States has strengthened the relationship between Vietnam and the United States.The two sides of the frequent exchange of visit between leaders at all levels promoted Vietnam-US relations and made trade and investment increasing steadily.This paper attempts to study the changes after the post-Cold War in the development of relations between Vietnam and the United States,tries to sum up the development of relations between Vietnam and the United States,analyzes the development of relations between Vietnam and the United States,and tries to predict the future development of Vietnam-US relations.
