A Study On Corporate Social Responsibility

Since the set-up of the company system, it has created the enormous wealth for human society. But with the growing power, it has also brought about some serious problems, such as environmental pollution, the abuse of economic power monopoly prices, the excessive use of resources, the abuse of workers rights, etc. Thus, in 1930s, the United States initially proposed "corporate social responsibility theory". The theory was put forth in theoretical circles and caused tremendous repercussions. The struggle between the most famous American scholar Dude and Burleigh lasted 20 years. In current research, the results of corporate social responsibility have cultivated a lot, such Dr. Liujunhai's "corporate social responsibility"; Ph.D Liulianyu's "corporate -governance and corporate social responsibility"; Dr. Lodaifu's "corporate social responsibility economics and law analysis". Our newly-revised "Company Law" has been clearly defined corporate social responsibility, which is a big step forward my company legislation. Our new "Company Law" article I provides that: companies engaging in business activities, must comply with laws, administrative regulations, social ethics, business ethics, honesty and trustworthiness; at the same time, companies should accept the supervision of social responsibility from government and the public, and undertake social responsibility. On the basis of the predecessors' study, the author tried his best to explore the theory in greater path and proposed the ways to achieve our companies' social responsibility with the Chinese current situation to make society harmoniously develop.The paper is divided into three parts:In Chapter 1, the author introduced the origination and defined the concept, the nature and the features of corporate social responsibility. Then the author introduced the basic theory of social responsibility, mainly from the respective of"the socialization of proprietary","the social benefits theory","the theory of the benefits of persons"related to cooperates" and"economic analysis jurisprudence". At last, the author detailedly introduced the content of corporate social responsibility, including employees, consumers, creditors, communities, environment, and social welfare social responsibility.In Chapter 2, the author introduced the theory and the practice of western developed countries, taking the United States, England, German and Holland for example and discussed the meaning that China learns their advanced experience.Chapter 3 is the focus of this article. In this part, the author at first introduced the current situation of Chinese corporate social responsibility. Then according to the facts, the author proposed the way of achieve corporate social responsibility: through SA8000 standards, and workers holding system for employees to achieve social responsibility; through the establishment of the opening information system, the system of supervising consumers' rights and the system of protection consumers rights to achieve the social responsibility to consumers; through banks in corporate management and the establishment of information disclosure system to achieve social responsibility for the social benefits of creditors; on the environment, community, social welfare and other issues, the authors recommend the use of specific legislation in the form of fixed content to ensure the achievement of corporate social responsibility.
