The university students are the important human resources of our country, and it has a great practical significance to solve the issue of employment for the university students. In recent years, with the increasing enrollment of students in colleges and universities, the students graduating from universities and colleges continue to grow; moreover, because of the difficult situation of economical development, the employment of university students faces a grim situation; the state of coexisting structural unemployment and selective unemployment has arisen.Influenced by the market rules, the flow of human resource has obvious regional guidance, and there are two kinds of contradictions in the personnel marker: on the one hand, there is an overall surplus of talents in the eastern and coastal developed areas; on the other hand, in the countryside, especially the remote and inhospitable area of the west, it is very short of personnel. In order to promote rapid and sound development in the western area and rural grass-roots, and to carry forward the construction of the new socialist countryside, the Central Party Committee and the State Council have timely adopted a series of policies and measures, including the plan to volunteer for the west, three supports and one assistance, the village official plan and so on, guiding and promoting the university students to serve in the western and the rural grass-roots.However, because of the slow level of development of economy in the western rural areas, poor atmosphere of social culture, tough living and working conditions and so on, these objective present situations determine that the university students facing the employment in the west and grass-roots have unique psychological characteristics.Taking the university students in Chongqing as a sample, the research was carried to explore the university students'basic cognition of western rural grass-roots, the psychological characteristics of university students to work in the western rural grass-roots, and the factors to promote the university students to work in the western rural grass-roots. Based on this, the related proposal and measures were put forward.The result of the research shows that:Firstly, the university student presents two levels of cognition in the western and rural grass-roots: on the one hand, there is a low opinion of the economical development in the western and rural areas, the system guarantee and the storage of personnel; on the other hand, university students speak highly of the natural condition, social environment and development policy.Secondly, the psychological characteristics of university students'employment become more diverse: the university students think the employment situation becomes very serious, with insufficient self-confidence of employment; and they have strong preference to regional employment, unwilling to work in the western and rural grass-roots; they do not fully understand the related policies to work in the western and rural grass-roots, and they are forced to choose to work in the western and rural grass-roots; they choose to work there with certain but not strong independency; their choices become diversified, in spite of lack of the consciousness to start their own business; they think that they are not competent enough to work in the grass-roots, and in the appraisal of the demanded qualities they pay attention to both the professional abilities and personalities.Thirdly, according to the influence size, the factors to prevent the university students in Chongqing from working in the western and rural grass-roots are:the school,working unit, government and society, family, and the university students theirselves.Fourthly, the factors to promote mainly include: financial support of the government, government, the advocation of colleges and universities to work in the grass-roots, raising the economical income.Fifthly, according to the psychological characteristics of university students to obtain employment in the western and rural grass-roots, and the analysis of the factors to prevent and promote, the countermeasures to promote the university students to work in the western and rural grass-roots were put forward from the four aspects: the government and society, colleges and universities, family, and university students. That means: for the government and the society, the government should improve the employment environment, regular necessary policies, and the society should create good public opinion environment, summon the university student to work in the countryside; for the colleges and universities, they should strengthen the career guidance, develop psychology education, guide the university students to the countryside; the family should transform the traditional idea on employment, support the children to obtain employment in the west and the countryside; the university students should the correct cognition and the location, set up the good psychology of employment, serve the rural grass-roots sincerely.
