| As we all know, crime is a social problem. China had done well in preventing and controlling crimes before 1990s. Since 1990s, crime rate in China has increased fast and the categories have had more forms. It's definitely caused by many cases, in this thesis when talking about the crime rate it will focus on the population migration. At present, population migration is much more frequent unprecedented because China is in the process of industrialization and urbanization. Population migration which promotes the development of the social economics also has a bad impact on the crime number and crime structure. So research on the population migration has practical significance in the maintenance of social stability. In this thesis, it does an empirical analysis on the significant correlation between the population migration and the crime rate using data from 16 provincial-level administrative units. The thesis also explores the transmission mechanism using related theories and analysis tools of Law & Economics It is found that the degree of the labor market perfection and the economic development are the important media of the relationship between the population migration and the crime rate. With the composite index of the population migration, the thesis does research on the different effects of the population migration and population emigration to the crime rate. At last, from the empirical point of view the thesis proves that population migration has a significant effect on the population moving into provinces. At the same time it's found the different frequency of the population migration also has different impact on the crime rate. Broadly speaking, stable migration has minimal impact on the crime rate. On the basis of the aforementioned research, the thesis finally introduces the Markov chain to explore the control mechanism from a macro perspective. So the government could give a reasonable guide and effective control to the population migration in the order to control the crime rate in China.Compared with the previous studies, this paper not only attaches importance to the qualitative analysis, but also to the quantitative analysis. From the perspective of empirical analysis, it distinguishes between the different effects on the crime rate of different styles of migration in order to reveal the transmission mechanism of the impact from migration on the crime. In the empirical study,we use the HDI index and migration index to explain both the impact of migration on crime and the correlation between the determinants of crime. The policy recommendations which are on the basis will be more operational. |
