The Study On The Impact On Ethnic Relations Of The Gap Between Urban And Rural Areas In The Ethnic Minority Regions

The gap between urban and rural areas is an inevitable stage in the industrialized countries of the world. As a developing country, China is no exception. Since reform and opening up, with the prosperity and development of socio-economic aspects, the gap between urban and rural areas is gradually widening. Compared to other parts of the country, a gap between the urban and rural areas in the Minzu regions tends to be greater.These gaps not only affect the build of the well-off society and a harmonious society in China, but also further the consolidation and development of socialist harmonious ethnic relations. Based on the impact of the current gap between urban and rural areas of China's minority regions on socialist harmonious ethnic relations, this article research is undoubtedly of great theoretical and practical significance.Based on the previous results, this paper analyses the features of the gap between urban and rural areas in the Minzu regions and its reasons. From the political, economic and cultural aspects the paper expatiates the impact of the gap between urban and rural areas on ethnic relations and put forward my own views. At the same time, the paper gives some advices on narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas in the ethnic minority regions and promoting the socialist ethnic relations.Paper comprises three parts:The first part argues a huge gap between urban and rural residents in the Minzu regions in income levels, consumption level, education and employment, health care and social security.The huge gap results from both common causes of the country and its own special reasons. Common reasons are: the strategy of giving priority to heavy industry in the period after the foundation of the country; the management system of different structure between urban-rural areas; characteristics of urban and rural industry.The special reasons are: the backward of agriculture and animal husbandry in the minority areas in the history; special geopolitical environment of minority areas; conservative concepts, a relatively weak sense of reform and opening up and of market economy, the slow pace of industrialization and urbanization of minority areas.The second part, from China's ethnic minority areas and the reality of ethnic relations, demonstrates the inter-relationship between the gap, between urban and rural in minority areas, and ethnic relation, and from the political, economic and cultural aspects analyses the impact of rural-urban disparity in minority areas on ethnic relations.The third part, according to the gap between urban and rural areas in the ethnic minority areas, puts forward some measures to co-ordinate urban and rural development and promote the prosperity and progress of ethnic minorities: that is, to increase the nation's support for ethnic rural areas; to adjust the industrial structure and develop ehtnic economy with local characteristics ; speed up the process of urbanization in minority areas; to increase input in agricultural and pastoral areas and promote the comprehensive development of social undertakings of ethnic minorities.
