The Research On Non-Governmental Organization For Changshu Migrant Labor In The Period Of Social Transformation

The problem about migrant laborer is current focous. It is the responsibility for government and administration staff to pay close attention to such a group who have make contribution for Changshu's economy development. The paper retrospected the internal and external driving force and the social background since the end of last century which promoted the establishment and development of non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers in China. Combined with typical cases, the paper discusses the definition, the path of bottom-up and the types non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers. Right preservation, training, consulting, aiding, recreation and exchange platform supply were the main activities of non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers. Under country background, with the research on status quo of non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers, we can find that non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers were in their primary stage and did not have tremendous influence. Based on the status of Changshu migrant laborers, with the cooperation with every Villages and towns Youth League committee, we distributed three hundred inquires into a questionnaire to migrant laborers. Based on the data analysis we have studied the status quo of non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers, and made a conclusion about the common problems which lies in the non-governmental organizations for Changshu migrant laborers. The non-governmental organization for migrant laborers has been seriously held back by imperfect legal system, lack of sunds, low human resource quality, lack of governmental support and lack of social identity. Lastly, based on the overall background, the paper offers some policy suggestions which can foster the healthy growth of non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers, such as perfect the legislation and assessment system of non-governmental organizations, finding new source for funds, improving human resource quality, improving governmental support and establishing credibility of non-governmental organizations for migrant laborers. The writer considers that we should create a good social and institutional environment for the non-governmental organizations of migrant laborers to develop, which can be the drive force for building harmonious society and Changshu's economy development.
