The Village self-government of China has been carried out for almost 30 years, when China's rural villages have undergone significant and profound changes in economy, politics, social structure as well as villagers' lifestyle. The "household-based contract system" has contributed a lot to higher income and better living standard. And due to this kind of Village self-government, both of the sense of ownership and democratic process in rural villages has been promoted. Therefore, the traditional China rural society is gradually disappearing, especially in villages whose villagers taking active participation in managing their own village affairs, in order to protect their interests. However, not all Village self-government is beneficial to develop itself and its villagers'ability to participate in political affairs, and there are even some failed cases. The reasons for such phenomenon are complicated, such as unfavored geographic position, interference of traditional factors, deficiency of collective economy, supervision of township government. In addition, some village's public organizations cause obstruction in the way to Village self-government. In other words, village's public organization plays a great role in the process of Village self-government.In this dissertation, a case study of a village in central Zhejiang under the background of Transformation period. It's discussed that how the village's public organizations serve to bring the maximum efficiency for Village self-government based on practical experience. The dissertation spreads out exposition around the research purpose mentioned above, of which the structure is composed of seven parts. The first part expounds study background and subject significance. The second part introduces the overall condition of village D to lay a foundation for the next analysis. The third part introduces study method and theoretical framework. The forth part respectively discusses the main public organizations and their functions by pratical experience. The fifth and sixth parts are the key parts. What should the village's public organizations do to guarantee the high efficiency of Village self-government is expounded and the corresponding conclusion is obtained. What's more, the classification standard of villages is epurated, which will enrich the theory of village kinds. The main conclusion are summarized in the last part and the further research work is put forward. The final signficance is to research the process of Village self-government during many years, the problems met with different kinds of village and the development in the future.
