Under the influnces of financial crisis, the economy of China's coastal areas were badly affected, many businesses have closed down. There is large number of peasant-workers living in these coastal areas.in the financial crisis, many migrant workers are forced to return home because of unemployment, forming a large-scale return of wave.there are lots of reports concerning all kinds of changes occurred around the conutry and large part of the reports are about the migrants who chose to return to their hometown. However, there are still many migrants decided to stay in the city instead of going back home. How about their living conditions and showing spirits under the pressure? There are must be some reseaons to explain why they choose to stay in the city.This paper studies options made by the "staying in the city" migrants under the circumstances of economic crisis in the prospective of rational choices. And tries to study the behavior of the " staying in the city" migrants in rational choice theory.In the financial crisis, the "staying in the city" migrants have been greatly affected in employment, income and soon, but they chose staying in the city by consideration of their interests, future expectations and the opportunity cost of the comprehensive, Their selection is rational choice. Some survey show their choices are made because of surviving, economy and social needs. Based on the the rational choice theory,this paper study motivation of the "staying in the city" migrants from the survival of rationality, economic rationality and social rationality. survival of rational is the basic level, only when the survival of rational to be fully realized, the economic rationa and social rational will create.
