With the rapid development of urbanization,industrialization and modernization,many male human have been to the city to find jobs Since the 1980s,the phenomenon of remaining wives were becoming more and more obvious.In the new period,the male human resources are out to the city to find a job while the remaining wives are become the main force of agricultural produce. the traditional sexual division pattern of "men work in factories, women work in fields" was replaced by the new mode.In this mode,it turns out to be a new group,that is the group of remaining wives,they not only come down to themselves,but also include the strong social context or reality.The paper makes a survey on the city of DingXi,TianShui,LinXia and ZhangYe in GanSu province and analyzes the basic characteristics of remaining wives,working conditions,mentallyand daily life,social support,self-development and personal needs ect.lt also points out that since the husbands have gone out for a job in cities the remaining wives came under the certain influence.The conclusion of the research is that the remaining wives have endured more tremendous mental pressure when their husband apart from themselves.Also what they create are is often by overlooked;the change of marital and familial relations is not obvious but the potential crisis which is not to be overlooked.what's more,they worry about many things so that they lose the sense of securiy step by step;at the same time,the centre of gravity of social support transfer to original home from husband's family and the limit of self-development etc. At end of the paper presenting the further research ideas.,in other words,under at present society condition,how will the remaining wives survive and develop?What kind of results in the east, the middle and the west would be made according to different area.
