The Study Of The Changes In Wedding Ceremony Of The Contemporary Rural

In recent years, with the pace of reform and opening up, and rural modernization, Chinese rural society appeared tremendous changes. On the one hand, this change was embodied in the changes of the social infrastructure of the rural community, on the other hand, reflected for the changes of value, that is the maintenance of the basic structure of rural society. This article selects wedding ceremony to study, analyses the meaning of the acts of people in the specific rural community, and tries to discover the changes of the culture and the values. Marriage is a major event in the living of farmers. Marriage ceremony as a special cultural carriers, is closely connected to the farmers' ultimate value. Through the changes of wedding ceremony, we can see through the changes of farmers' value and the changes of rural culture.Most of previous studies on the marriage ceremony, are on the phenomenon of static description of the processes and functions, and regard the marriage ceremony as an isolated social phenomenon to study. From a sociological point of view, through the interactions of culture, power and economic, in this article we try to discover the laws of cultural change in rural areas. Clifford Geertz, regards a symbol of the ceremony as a cultural system, that is a symbol system as to understand the world. The ceremony reflects the cultural significance on one hand, on the other hand is the practice of specific acts. Ceremony provides a local interpretation and practices of their world view, cosmology cognitive framework, and carries a specific life meaning of people in the community, so it is a key to understand the culture. Reading the ceremony becomes a way to understand the internal structure of the society. This is the reason why the article selects wedding ceremony as the content.With the pace of marketization, the Western-style modern civilization, interest-oriented, market-oriented, a large number of material consumption as the performance, impacts on Chinese rural traditional culture for thousands of years, and changes the way of thinking of Chinese farmers, living habits, affects their value judgments and choices. In such a background, researching the changes of marriage ceremony, is not only for rural governance, but also for the farmers to obtain the value of themselves, being of great significance.This article is a case study, the object of study is a particular rural community, the research methods are long-term participant observation and deep interviews. This paper regards wedding ceremony as the entry point, through the long-term participant observation of the real life of people in the village, through the analysis of the facts, to find the problems of rural areas cultural change,and to illustrate how to build a harmonious rural community from the two dimensions that are paying attention to the spirit world of farmers and caring about the value of traditional culture.
