With the coming of the knowledge economy era, knowledge plays an increasingly important role in economic growth and provides an intellectual support to sustain economic development. As a source of knowledge learning, higher education logically and internally interacts with regional economic growth and social development. Through technology innovation, technological progress, human capital, investment efficiency and other factors, higher education affects economic growth ,at the same time, economic growth provides material basis for higher education which determines the direction of higher education and its development scale. As has been proven in practice, the development of local economy must be the goal of higher education. And economic growth must be supported by personnel training of higher education, knowledge creation and technological innovation. Hunan province as the economic province in central region, its industry such as machinery manufacturing, non-ferrous metal smelting, new materials and new energy is developing rapidly and its industry position is improved significantly. In particular, the provincial government of Hunan puts forward the"corner overtaking"strategy, which brings great opportunities and challenges to the Higher Education of Hunan. Higher Education of Hunan must serve the local economy, optimize education structure and improve education quality and innovation, and finally contributes to economic growth.With the focus on the influence of higher education to economic growth of Hunan, this paper consist of five chapters: Chapter One presents the research ideas, method, outline and expected innovation based on research background and significance, and the research about higher education and economic growth at home and abroad. Chapter Two mainly analyzes the internal logic fit between higher education and economic growth, holds the interpretation of higher education and economic growth theories and several typical theoretical model. Chapter Three analyzes the status of higher education development in Hunan and its outstanding problems in the perspective of the economic growth performance, and resolves the reasons of development disorder between Higher Education in Hunan and economic growth. Chapter Four sets the joint of Higher Education in Hunan and economic growth as fact, estimates the percent contribution of Higher Education in Hunan to economic growth through data and model selection. Chapter Five proposes the coordinated response of Higher Education in Hunan and economic growth, which includes well-diversified investment and financing system, to achieve the joint of professional setting and industry structure, builds a positive interact protection mechanisms between higher education and economic growth.The research results and innovation of this thesis are in three aspects: Firstly, A thorough analysis to the internal logic fit between Higher Education in Hunan and economic growth in the perspective of economic development; Secondly, this thesis adopts the method of quantitative and empirical research, brings the related number of models, and estimates the percent contribution of Higher Education in Hunan to economic growth, which has some practical significance; Thirdly, its proposes specific countermeasures to the relationship between Higher Education and economic growth, which has its own practicability.
