Recently, with the increasing complicacy of social environments, emergencies and their hidden danger occurring in and faced by schools has significantly increased than before, these emergencies have had certain impact to normal management of school and brought about negative effects on the physical and mental health of students. So, how to correctly know the reasons, features and development process of these emergencies as well as how to improve prevention mechanism and take measures to ensure schools to be harmonious and stable is an important subject facing educators. This study selects the incident of chemical gas leakage on May 11, 2009 in Jiangyin Huangtu Middle School as the research object. The author discusses some basic characteristics and laws of emergencies in rural junior high school according to school security log at that time, meeting data and the author's personal experience as a direct participant, to study emergency management pre-warning system consistent with the characteristics of rural junior high school in favor of standardizing and strengthening response to and disposal of all types of emergencies, prompting promoting the capacity and level of emergency prevention and disposal, remaining campus stable and establishing harmonious campus. The major research contents are included as follows:(1) Basic characteristics and rules of school emergencies. Features: sudden, destructiveness, urgency and groupment. The cause of incident results from schools, parents, students, society and so on. It usually undergoes several such stages as: accumulation of incentives, outbreak, accumulation of energy, spread of time and space, occurrence and spread of secondary incident, solving the problem and recession of incident influence. (2) Prevention of school emergencies. To prevent emergencies from occurrence, rural junior high schools shall take measures in several such respects: emphases in thinking, put great emphasis on school safety work; material guarantee, guarantee material and funds to put in; organization guarantee, organize all kinds of emergency response working group; establish and firmly implement the rules and regulations;enhance training, train and drill teaching staff and students; take out insurance, encouraging students to cover accident insurance as well as school takes out liability insurance.(3) Coping tactics to rural school emergency. When emergency breaks out inevitably, rural junior high school shall activate contingency plans and act aggressively, the following aspects of work shall be focused on: activate contingency plans and rescue as fast as possible; mobilize all resources both in and out of school, forming resultant force; care about the developments, make all kinds of records; issue the news timely and establish the correct orientation for public opinion; do well in assessment and monitoring work and prepare for next coping tactics; pay close attention to psychological changes of students and teachers and conduct psychological persuasion in time; draw lessons and strengthen the awareness after the accident.
