The National Mathematics Curriculum Standards for Senior Middle Schools (trial) published in April 2003, includes statistics and probability, which has been greatly improved, compared with the former one and the improvement reveals the basic idea of the reform of the mathematics curriculum.Firstly, this thesis reviews the related contents of probability and statistics settings for senior middle school mathematics curriculum after the foundation of our country and the problems and difficulties that arose in teaching, analyses the current contents of probability and statistics for Jiangsu curriculum, the differences and similarities between the current teaching requirements and the original requirements, and the settings on probability and statistics for foreign (U.S.) high schools.Secondly, the thesis analyzes the basic notion, principles, and methods of the probability and statistics in the new curriculum. Finally, the thesis puts forward some teaching strategies for the implementation in accordance with the content of probability and statistics in the new mathematics curriculum, and reaches the following main conclusions:1 Deep understanding of the idea and intention of the setting teaching materials.2 Thoroughly clarifying the mathematical ideas contained in high school statistics and probability.3 Taking appropriate teaching strategies in teaching high school statistics and probability. There are still many aspects worthy of further study in the teaching of high school probability and statistics, such as the cultivation of students'cognitive and thinking skills, teaching models of high school probability and statistics on the basis of modern educational technology etc.
