Ye Shengtao( Tao) is the founder of modern chinese education, who has created a set of chinese educational thoughts of his own, which is based on his theoretical research and educational practice in the 70 years. The foucus of this paper is taking a new look at the tools and theories of Tao in the new historical context.With rare and complete chineses education experience, Tao is also the pioneer of chinese textbooks. Therefore, all of his experiences has provided solid foundation for his chinese language tools.Tao has never been a tool of pure (instrumentalist), however, he insisted the essence of his own chinese language tools in order to protest against the polictial interference in the chinese teaching. At the same time,'humanism'is always refelected in his educational thoughts.In the late twntieth century, Tao was criticized as a pure instrumentalist in the great debat on the nature of chinese, which was a misunderstanding of Tao. That is to say, It is not consistent with the objective scientific laws that they attempt to use'humanism'instead of'instrumental'.The paper aims to explore his'humanism'in his chinese edcuation and has a better understanding of his'chinese language tools', objective and historical.
