The education thought of Ye Shengtao is not only present in hiseducational works and reading notes, but also embedded in hiseducational novels. Drawing ideas from the familiar educationalmaterials, revealing education problems and reposing his educationideal is the unique organizing style of his educational novels. In thesenovels, he discussed the compilation of Chinese textbooks, and putforward that Chinese teachers compile textbooks for themselves. Withthe compilation practice going unceasingly thorough, Ye Shengtaofurther developed and refined this thought, which is still enlightenmentto the construction and edition of Chinese teaching materialsnowadays.Taking Ye’s educational novels as clues, this article attempts toprobe into his thought of compiling Chinese teaching materials, miningon its enlightenment to the construction of Chinese teaching materialsso as to promote the development of textbook construction in ourcountry.This article is divided into six parts:The first part (introduction): Briefly reviewing the research subject,research significance, the research findings and the innovation points.The second part (chapter1): The concept of Chinas educationnovels is defined according to its text characteristics. By combing Ye’seducational novels, clarify the creation style which combined drawingideas from his own life experiences, revealing education defects andreposing his education ideal.The third part (chapter2): According to Ye’s educational novels,make his thought of compiling Chinese teaching materials explicit, andanalyze why and how teachers compile the teaching materials.The fourth part (chapter3): Exploring two ways, further refining of the standard of selected textbooks and combining selected andcreated textbooks to understand the further development of histhought. Take the book "Enlightened Mandarin Textbook"(A textbookfor pupils) as an example, expounding on its successful practice of histhought of compiling Chinese teaching materials by teacherthemselves.The fifth part (chapter4): Investigating the practical significance ofhis thought of compiling Chinese teaching materials by teacherthemselves. Based on the Chinese teaching material of Jianping middleschool in Shanghai—“Shanghai Jianping county middle school Chinesemodule textbooks (experimental version)", discussing the compilationway of Chinese teaching materials by teacher themselves, and alsoputting forth suggestions for Chinese teaching material construction inour country.The sixth part (epilogue): Summerizing Ye Shengtao’s thought ofcompiling Chinese teaching materials by teacher themselves andgeneralizing the prospects of Chinese teaching material construction inour country.
