In order to adapt to the social and economic development of new age, education reform has being carried out around China since 2005. It requires higher professional skills which teacher-oriented students should achieve in normal schools. However, students graduated from normal schools could not fully meet the standard of being teachers in elementary education units for long. Training on subject-related knowledge has being paid more attention, while professional skills of being teachers are more or less ignored in normal schools. Therefore, it's an urgent challenge for normal schools to improve students'professional skills of being teachers under the background of educational reform.Taking students graduated from East China Normal University in 2007 and 2008 for example, survey and interviews are conducted to explore the issues of training ways for teacher-oriented students in college. The following issues are identified:lack of tutoring in practical training and scientific evaluation system of professional skills of being teachers. Besides, training on professional skills of being teachers is more or less ignored.Suggestions are given based on research in this study:balance the training on "subject-related knowledge" and "professional skills of being teachers", paying more attention to training on professional skills. Recommend to reset training courses for teacher-oriented students in normal schools based on the principle of education reform. It's also important to construct an open-minded training system as well as improve the evaluation system of teacher professional skills.
