The recurrence of humanistic medical spirit and the transformation of the medical mode call for a higher-level Chinese language teaching in health schools. The personalization of vocational education determines the personalization of vocational school Chinese teaching. On the other hand, however, almost all the textbooks and teaching methods in vocational school Chinese teaching have been copied or imitated from those of regular institutions of higher education, and this practice has been repeated over and over again. As a result, the reform of vocational school Chinese teaching has become a necessity. Because teaching methods depend on textbooks, the key of such a reform is to compile a set of suitable Chinese language textbooks, which the students will be delighted to read.This paper is the result of the reflection and exploration of the requirements mentioned above. The paper consists of the following four parts:Part one probes into the related theories on reconstructing the Chinese teaching content, analyzes the position and the special role which the Chinese language discipline plays in vocational health education, and makes clear the missions, principles and structural system of reconstructing the Chinese teaching content.Part two analyzes the specific characteristics and various kinds of functions of vocational health school Chinese teaching, and gives expression to the necessity and urgency on the reform of the Chinese textbooks.Part three probes into the practice of reconstructing the content of the Chinese language textbooks. By means of this, this part enriches the vocational Chinese language knowledge, reconstructs the modules of vocational health school Chinese teaching, improves the functions of the Chinese language, and represents the concern of the characteristics and requirements of vocational education in the new teaching content.Part four is the thought over the successful reconstructing of the Chinese language teaching content. From several aspects, it deals with the possibility and requirements of reconstructing the Chinese language teaching content, so that the reform will be put into practice instead of stuck in just theory construction.
