Abstract/Summary:
In general, language teaching materials can be divided into several aspects of the text systems, practice design systems, operating systems and knowledge systems. Operating system or exercise designed embodies the textbook writing characteristics and its value and its important position in teaching books has got more and more attention.In the Anthology language textbooks, the exercise system not only shows the writer’s own intentions, and decides the establishment of the textbook system, the positioning of the teaching objectives, the choice of teaching content, teaching activities, guidelines and interpretation point of view of the text, etc. which can be said that it has a strong impact on the content and form of organization of language teaching.Teaching books is the medium to active the language course, practice design in Chinese teaching books put the course content into dominance and forms the propeller of the teaching content. Exercises designed for specific selected text, will exhumed the text implies static language courses and determine the teaching objectives of a text which will be the actual course content.Therefore, in-depth study of exercises designed to better play its due role in the system of language teaching materials is necessary.The structure of this paper is from the beginning of the discussion of function of language teaching practice, and put the exercises designed to the system formed with three interrelated and interaction factor, language courses, language teaching, language learning to examined, according to the theories of text books, to determine the function of the exercises designed which should have in determining teaching content and students’language literacy training from the point of view of language course. The situation of Corresponding functional operation of Sino-US textbooks will be the framework of comparative analysis of the two sets of textbooks.Strive to looking for the potential impact as well as writing rules of the practice design of textbooks by the compare and then proposed strategies to improve exercise practice design. Most of the studies will take the typical example of the text as a case, then through the comparison of the Sino-US language teaching practice system to summarize the advantages and disadvantages, and then put forward reform proposals: to increase the knowledge content of the exercises designed; to change the way of the presentation of practice to make the hidden curriculum content expressed in a dominant manner; to transform the role of students in learning through exercises designed to effectively promote an overall improvement in students’language literacy.
