As the society and schools are in need of large numbers of tennis talents, many physical education (PE) institutes have successively offered tennis courses at a rapid speed. Currently, it is critical to have a systemic and complete tennis teaching system under the situations of the short offering time of all tennis courses, the relatively backward researches on teaching theories as well as no teaching experience to learn from.Based on specific analysis on all teaching elements, this paper constructs a teaching system for tennis major courses through the methods of documentation, observation, probability, logic and so on, trying to resolve the problems teachers may encounter in teaching. The system's construction will play a role in education's perfection and further improvement on teaching quality for the schools having offered tennis major courses; while it will present teachers a complete blueprint which includes all teaching elements for the schools having not offered such courses, helping to develop their teachings smoothly.Research results: (1) Tennis teaching system consists of six essential teaching elements: teaching objective, teaching subject, teaching content, teaching methods, teaching environment and teaching evaluation, which are mutually independent and also relative to each other. (2) Both the formulation of the teaching objective of tennis major courses in PE program and the teachers'cognition on teaching objectives are quite chaotic. The teachers of major courses are mainly young instructors with Master's degree, who are full of passion and motivation for teaching, but with less teaching experience. The levels of students are totally different before learning tennis major courses; 67.8% of students have not attended any tennis training. And teachers'put less emphasis and cognition on tennis theories. Influenced by multiple factors, teachers apply traditional teaching method much more than other teaching methods. Now, the popularity of tennis in colleges and universities and the atmosphere at major course classrooms have demonstrated students'high initiatives, but students are confronting with the contradiction between high initiatives and insufficient practicing fields. The forms of teaching evaluation at all schools are diversified, but the primary is the summative evaluation with the combination of theory and skills. (3) The teaching process composed by all elements of teaching system is complicated and dynamic, all of which are mutually linked and interacted. Teaching objective should show students'needs; teaching content closely focuses on the objective; teaching method suits the content; and teaching evaluation can reflect the teaching process. Furthermore, all these elements influence the psychological environments of both teachers and students, and meanwhile teachers and students move in these elements dynamically, which are not only influenced by these elements and also are restricted by them.Suggestions: The teaching objectives of tennis major courses in PE program should be formulated as the following: (1) Let students command the tennis theories, skills and basic tactics based on the understanding of tennis sport's movement rules and also develop students'self abilities through the studies and practical activities of tennis major courses, ultimately making students capable to undertake the tennis teachings and the guidance on trainings of tennis competition at all levels. (2) Promote the teachers of tennis major courses in PE program to continuously improve their teaching abilities and also make changes to teaching concepts, transiting from valuing teaching methods and initiatives to cultivating students' learning methods and initiatives, and encouraging and motivating students to participate in the design of teaching process. (3) The teaching contents of tennis major courses in PE program should be constructed under the guidance of teaching objectives, namely optimizing the contents of major courses and hence making the arrangement of teaching contents more reasonable from the cultivation of students' teaching abilities, the direction on different groups'training abilities as well as students' self-development. Besides, to allow students to grasp the teaching contents more effectively, the roles of tennis teaching materials should be paid more attention to and the tennis teaching materials should be taken full advantage as well. (4) When selecting teaching methods, the teachers of tennis major courses can take the application of the three aspects of teaching contents, classroom situations and modern teaching methods into account, combining the teaching methods based on specific classes needs, and achieving the best optimization of teaching effects. (5) Due to the characteristics of the teaching and personnel training of tennis major courses, PE schools of colleges and universities should conduct standardized management on the playing fields which can be charged of fees or managed in other forms, delimiting extracurricular felids for tennis classes, and ensuring students at tennis classes to own their fields to practice. (6) The ordering process of teaching elements and the teaching implementation process should be monitored powerfully and effectively: Teachers and students need to establish bidirectional and stable supervision mechanism between each other, and teaching units need toformulate detailed teaching management supervision regulations as well as implementation measures.
