Research On Emergency Volunteers' Motivation Of Voluntary Participation

In China, volunteer has developed vigorously in recent years. As a result, emergency volunteers began to expand in the country as it is an important part of the volunteers'organization. This paper aims to study the motivation of emergency volunteers participating in emergency services by qualitative research. This study uses a research of method qualitative, analyzes and summarizes the motivation types, development and change trace of emergency volunteer participate emergency service by the use of in-depth interviews to collect data. It is hoped that the study can provide some policy basis and reference for the construction of emergency volunteers, and improve the emergency volunteer system as well.In order to explore the types and content of emergency volunteers'participating motivation, and propose related grounded theory of emergency volunteers, the author first defines the concept of emergency volunteers, emergency services and motivation of voluntary participation on the basis of a review of related literature. Then collects and analyzes the data according to the research paradigm of grounded theory. The paper divides the motivation into five types including value-based type, return type, emotion type, learning type and blind type, which based on the different intrinsic needs of emergency volunteers, and then analyzes each of the type. The author finds the motivation of emergency volunteers shows the following rules by a re-analysis of interview data in different types: Emergency volunteers who participate in emergency service are motivated by two or more motivations instead of a single one; the motivation of emergency volunteers'participation is a process of changing and developing which presents a certain pattern rather than a static one; gender puts influence on emergency volunteers'motivation, but it is not necessarily affect the trend of their motivation, which means the gender element impaction on the motivation will gradually disappear after the male and female emergency volunteers participate in emergency volunteer services.We can find participating motivation is a core issue for emergency volunteers through this study. It is necessary to meet the internal demand of emergency volunteers, strengthen volunteers'participate motivation, and guide continuous development of emergency volunteers in order to ensure their participation actively, complete rescue missions safely and successfully.
