Study On Investigation And Development Of College Public PE Of Northern Jiangsu Province

A revolution of curriculum reformation which swept many developed-countries on a big scale in the middle of 80s of the 20th century, has gradually become a century-cross trend of education trend. Based on such background, college pubic PE which serves as important part of college course system cannot meet the needs of society and requires a rapid reformation . The northern five cities referred to in this study belong to Jiangsu province and fall behind other areas of Jiangsu in economics and education. It is a mission for college to supply qualified students for the sake of development. This paper based on some documents and adopts questionnaire method, expert interview and materials as well as statistics to interview the PE teachers and students in 10 colleges in north of Jiangsu, aiming to analyze the present situation.The conclusions are as follows: 1.Colleges in northern Jiangsu can basically set courses according to national requirements while some of them cannot.2.Though improvement in stadium and equipment is obvious , the quantity is not enough or well-equipped. 3. Teachers of PE aren't enough with their majors out of balance. 4. Settings of public PE is influenced by teachers and sites. Too many students in classes, teaching contents and methods are needed while assessment somewhat unreasonable. 5. Colleges in northern Jiangsu regularly organize various sports competition, but not fulfill the original thought. 6. Colleges in such areas don't take much of the standard levels made by the centre, some colleges even fail to carry out.This paper gives some suggestions and strategies to PE teaching in northern Jiangsu province after the analysis of present situation in colleges. 1. Relevant departments should take the reformation seriously and make correct relevant systems and document. 2. Colleges should intensify efforts to reform and perfect the settings of courses further to assure the teaching hours. 3. Increase the reconstruction, facility and budget of stadiums while making full use of present PE resources. 4. Set limits in the entrance of PE teachers, improve teachers'education and professional titles. 5. Try to separate girls from boys in electives of PE, take the quantity under control and teaching contents should combine the health standards, colleges should pay attention to the study and improvement of contents as well as methods, making appraisal ways better. 6.Regard the status of PE,set a correct conception and model,put the standards into force.
