Study On Current Situation Of The Gymnasium Facilities In Colleges And Universities Opening To The Society In Northern Jiangsu

Gymnasiums serve as an important precondition of the development of physical culture. However, the real situation is that on the one hand, China faces a severe shortage of gymnasiums, unable to meet the demand of the huge population; on the other hand, lots of gymnasiums are not fully made use of.Gymnasiums in colleges and universities, an important component part of teaching facilities,are necessary for physical training, sports activities and games. Meanwhile, they also play a role in the community, providing a platform for individual and organizational physical activities in the neighborhood. Since the government cannot build enough gymnasiums for the huge population in the near future and the existing gymnasiums cannot satisfy people's demand, it is more reasonable to make use of gymnasiums in colleges and universities open to the public, a practice that helps, to a large extent, relieve the financial burden in maintaining the facilities.Based on data analysis, questionnaire, analytical method and other methods, this paper, first of all, presents a detailed study of opening-up of gymnasiums in colleges and universities in Northern Jiangsu and then manages to find out practical solutions.There aren't enough gymnasiums at the fifteen surveyed colleges and universities in the north of Jiangsu province. These small-sized gymnasiums can meet the basic demand of teaching, training, and physical activities. Among them, 73.4 percent are open to the public to different degrees. With support from the government, there is still much room for improvement. Factors deciding opening-up of gymnasiums include the idea and mentality of the leaders and teachers, the safety of universities, the device conditions of P.E.place in universities, the hour open to society of P.E.place ,etc.College and university management should changing traditional and close idea of teaching management, providing more and more place service for people health, choosing suitable forms and times for opening-up of the gymnasiums. Moreover, improvement on management and services are also important. Achievement of this goal demands a scientific management system. Assigned personnel should take responsibility for securing operation of the gymnasiums. On the other hand, the government is expected to continue to play its leading role. All in all, successful opening-up needs the combined efforts of the college, the government and the people concerned.
