Cooperative learning is a creative and effective teaching strategy, which started in America in the 1970s and made practical improvement in the mid-1970s and 1980s. It claims that teaching must be learner-centered and emphasizes the structure of knowledge and two-way communication, in which learners actively participate in the group activities. It pays much attention to the relationships, respects the individual opinions and views of others and stresses both the process and results for the purpose of stimulating learners' creativity and enriching their imagination.Cooperative learning has been widely applied in English teaching of Primary and Secondary Schools, but is rarely used in Secondary Vocational Schools. This thesis is based on the actual situation of my school, introduces cooperative learning theory into English teaching of Secondary Vocational Schools, and forms the cooperative learning model of vocational schools, instead of copying the cooperative learning model of Primary and Secondary Schools. In order to testify the feasibility of the English teaching of cooperative learning model, an experimental research is conducted.It studies the English teaching practice in cooperative learning of Secondary Vocational Schools and researches its experimental steps and processes so that the teaching model can provide teachers with some references and improve the teaching quality of Secondary Vocational Schools.Based on the analysis of experiment data, the following conclusions have been drawn:The cooperative learning can improve the students'English achievements greatly, stresses the dominant position of students and cultivate the students'spirit of cooperation, competition and collective sense of honor. But as a teaching strategy, it also has its weaknesses and can't replace the other strategies. In the meantime, due to the author's limited knowledge and objective conditions, there are some problems in the English teaching practice. It puts the cooperative learning theory into the English teaching of Secondary Vocational Schools in the hope that the result of the research can serve as a reference for the vocational English teaching reform and thus enrich and develop the cooperative learning theory.In the follow-up research, I will take active participation in the training on the related cooperative learning theory, and further study the cooperative learning concept to enhance the teaching quality of Secondary Vocational Schools.
