In recent years, with the rapid advance of popularization of higher education in China, a large number of professional technical colleges have been approved as undergraduate colleges. One issure that new undergraduate colleges have to face directly at their early stage is how to locate their scientific research development direction reasonably and correctly so as to realize the sustainable scientific research development. Because of the special status of new undergraduate colleges in the higher education system, it is of great significance to study the scientific research development of the newly approved undergraduate colleges.Basing on the theory of scientific research development and orientation of new undergraduate colleges, taking the example of H university of newly approved undergraduate colleges in Guangxi, the author collects a lot of scientific research data and information, conducts the questionaire towards the teachers of H university and interviews the director of scientific research of H university. In the end, the author concludes the current situation of scientific research of H university by means of analyzing the survey of H university. Then the author presents the real situation of scientific research development and orientation of newly approved undergraduate college by ways of getting the big picture from small details.Then the author focuses the discussion of main difficulties and problems that the newly approved undergraduate colleges face, analyzes the main reasons that cause these difficulties and problems deeply according to the current situation of scientific research development of H university. At last, the author proposes relative solutions and suggestions that newly approved undergraduate colleges conduct academic research development, correct orientation, good and sustainable development by providing relative explanations on the issues of core content, methods and ways of scientific research orientation for newly approved undergraduate colleges.The paper is based on the latest theoretical research on newly approved undergraduate colleges, empirical analysis of the data and interview results come from the statistical analysis of real investigation by the authors. So the final policy recommendations have a virtual effect which can provide reference and analysis basis for newly approved undergraduate colleges on scientific research development and their orientation decision-making.
