| Since the Reform and Opening in China, there have been many problems in its current English instruction evaluation system, which makes it necessary to reform and innovate in the teaching evaluation. This paper aims at providing a new constructive thinking for the reform and the development of the teaching evaluation by the introduction of the theory ---Developmental Evaluation of Constructivism (DEC)and the English-teaching practice research under the new English Curriculum Standard (ECS) and combining the above two together organically. The paper puts forward a systematic and open-ended design model of the Developmental Evaluation of Constructivism (DEC) in English- teaching. It is a kind of qualitative evaluation, which can provide both teachers and students useful information for their future development. The goal is improving instruction, promoting development, and providing decision-making information. The students develop it by self-constructing in the course of learning. It has great vitality as it lays emphasis on the diversity of forms, contents and methods etc. And it shows the "person-based" and "student-centered" opinion of the aptitude education, which covers purposes, contents, agents, forms, time and strategies etc. The paper also provides all kinds of samples in the strategies for reference. Feedback is emphasized as an inalienable element of the Developmental Evaluation. For many students, the practice research of DEC under the new ECS will promote them in a certain way. It can provide students many kinds of forms and chances to perform, thus many students of different special skills can show their strong points and experience the success so that they are willing to take part in the evaluation activities and they are inspired to study hard with interest, which foster their confidence so as to improve their English language proficiency wholly and to promote their sustained development. Certainly, DEC has its inherent weaknesses, which can be rectified in the course of practice. And the author believes that DEC has a positive impact on English-teaching with a prosperous future. |
