The high-school students in the late period of puberty (16-19) are not the reputed critical period of acquiring second language. However, in the recent decade, the international school/department/program, namely the immersive English teaching mode, which have showed great developing trend in some large cities. However, the second language acquisition researches in this field are relatively fewer. This paper is aiming at, through the case study of the Sino-American cooperation program in the international department of the Attached Middle School of CNU, exploring whether the immersion teaching mode can serve as a both pragmatic and effective bilingual education style in the Chinese context.After the 24 weeks'material collection, this research analyzed the course design, teaching material, teaching strategy and students'performance in the English immersion program through observation, video, interview and questionnaire. The conclusions are (1) the teaching materials are reasonable and logical, good at cultivating the overall English competence of the students. (2) The teaching plan for this program is well carried out. (3) Both teachers and students in this program are satisfactory with this program (4) the students in this program have excellent marks in the quantitative test and have great promotion in other aspects of competence. At last, this paper brought out some pragmatic suggestions for the further research and development of English immersion program in Chinese context.
