After China entered World Trade Organization (WTO), to master a foreign language is becoming more important. In order to involve and compete in current international markets, China starts to develop the bilingual education programs that are thriving in schools.Bilingual history education also emerges in the high school classrooms of China. The prosperity of bilingual history education demands the new bilingual history textbooks. However current bilingual history education textbooks in China are very limited and outdated. Today in China there are three major sources of bilingual textbooks: the original textbooks in foreign languages, the textbooks written by Chinese scholars, and the translated textbooks. Except for World Modern History and Chinese Ancient History published by the People Education Publishing Company, there are no original foreign textbooks or official bilingual history textbooks for Chinese high school students. As a result, it is unavoidable that bilingual history textbooks have to be written or translated by Chinese scholars.The structure of this thesis is listed as follows: Chapter 1 - 3: These three chapters defined and explained several related concepts such as "bilingual education" , "bilingual history education" , "bilingual history textbooks" , "purposes of bilingual history education" , and "purposes of bilingual history textbooks" .
