With the pace of the new curriculum reform in China, English elementary education develops unceasingly as well as the teaching methods. The "story teaching method" is one of them. After the confirmation, story teaching method is an effective method for teaching English.However, story method is not a perfect teaching theory in China. The most important point is that the primary school's English education popularization is not for a long time. Therefore, the story teaching theory shows messy, trivial, not systematic etc. Caracteristics. In addition, the traditional story teaching method exists flaws itself. For example, the story teaching method pays great attention to the language knowledge's instruction; the educational model is unitary; teaching process is too mechanizational and so on. In the traditional story teaching process, the teacher first teach students the story sentences and words, then let them listen to the story, read the story, discuss the story and perform the story. This is the way how the story teaching class goes on. Teacher artificially divides the story into several independent fragments to carry on the class. The teaching model is inflexible, and ignore students' learning psychological and emotional experience which causes students to learn the story merely mechanically. When circumstances have changed vary slightly, students would not be able to apply the learning language which they have learned before.After the literature research on the basis of story teaching theme on journal, papers, reports etc, author analyzes the literature informations and discusses the English teaching methodology, then clarifies the thread of the story teaching method, aiming at the development of traditional story teaching.Author puts forward the story theme teaching method, a new mode of story teaching method on English teaching. Story theme teaching is the development and supplement of story teaching method which through creating a story situation lets students complete the story freely, develops students' language ability by repeating the story. Story theme teaching method is influenced by circumstance teaching method and task-based teaching method which needs students understand the main meaning of the story, complete the learning mission by role-playing the characters from the story, finally, achieve teaching goal. In this paper, author compares the story theme teaching method with traditional story teaching method, role-playing teaching method and language circumstance teaching method, then points out the superiority of story theme teaching method in the primary school English teaching.On the analysis of the domestic and foreign relevant story teaching theory based on the present research, this paper discusses the principle of story theme teaching and practical teaching steps and operational method of this method, and through doing the English story theme teaching experiment and teachers' interview in Chongqing Jiangbei X elementary school, prove author's hypothesis on the efficiency of story theme teaching method in elementary school's English teaching.After research, author found that story theme teaching method is able to maximize the subjective initiative of students to learn, and improve students' learning passion and efficiency. Finally, the author puts forward constructive suggestions on story theme teaching method and affirms the scientific nature and the feasibility of it.
