A Study On Parental Self-efficacy And Its Influential Factors Among Parents Of Migrant Pre-school Children

With the faster process of industrilisation and urbanization and the large demand of labor resources in the market,more and more floating population immigrate the city by family style. Many pre-school children living in city with parents, parents take child-rearing responsibility. For the particular identity,the floating population in the vulnerable status.How about their sence of competence on parenthood,how about their parental self-efficacy. According to literature reviews on parental self-efficacy,the author revised the existing questionnaire (Pre-school Children Parental Self-efficacy Questionnaire).The questionnaire was carried out among three hundred parents at six kindergartens in Chongqing City. By using the methods of questionnaire and the interviews, this study explores the developmental characteristics of migrant pre-school childrenparents'parental self-effieacy and its influential factors. The results are the following:1.General charaeteristics:the level of parents's parental self-emeacy is not low,show the sence of comptence on parenthood. By deceending order,they are:health keeping, habits cultivating, emotion developing, sociality supporting,cognition promoting.2.Gender has no significant effect on the parental selfi-efficacy.3.Age has no significant effect on the parental selfi-efficacy.4.Parental cultual standard has significant effect on parental self-effecacy. The higher the cultual level is, the higher the level of parental self-efficacy.5.Occupation:working hours per day has significant effect on parental selfi-efficacy.The working time weather fixed has no significant effect on parental selfi-efficacy.6.Average monthly income has significant effect on parental self-effecacy. The higher the income level is, the higher the level of parental self-efficacy.7.Number of children has significant effect on parental self-effecacy. The more the children has the, the lower the level of parental self-efficacy.8.Parental health, average monthly income, parental emotion, cultual standard, number of children effect the parental self-efficacy.Children's facors have no effect on the parental self-efficacy. Cultual standard, parental health can predict the parental self-efficacy and the former is more important influential facor.
