Self-confidence is a psychological system of multi-dimension and multi-level, which plays an important role in the development and growth of individual, and it can be improved through certain specific activities such as sports, speech and behavior, social activities, reading, etc. Though cheerleading which full of dynamic and embodies a positive spirit, have a practical significance on develop the self-confidence of college students, there is lack of support on theoretical and empirical recently. The research based on the field of teaching practice, by meanings of teaching experiment and self-confidence questionnaire, the subjects were 105 undergraduate students(35 in cheerleading teaching class,35 in aerobics teaching class and 35 in sports dancing class), attempting a probe into the influence of cheerleading teaching on the self-confidence of female college students. This paper explored the influence of different teaching methods on the self-confidence of female college students, collecting date and analyzing the findings by means of One-way ANOVA and ANCOVA. The results indicated:1. The self-confidence level of the research subjects which belonged to middle level before the experiment, and the average score of the subjects was 3.4097.2. The self-confidence level of the research subjects had significant differences in some dimensions of self-confidence after the experiment. The whole self-confidence, school self-confidence, physical self-confidence and social self-confidene level of the cheerleading teaching group before the experiment had significant difference (P<0.05) compared with which after the experiment. The whole self-confidence, physical self-confidence and social self-confidene level of the aerobics teaching group before the experiment had significant difference (P<0.05) compared with which after the experiment. The whole self-confidence, school self-confidence, physical self-confidence and social self-confidene level of the sports dancing teaching group before the experiment had significant difference (P<0.05) compared with which after the experiment.3. After the experiment, we can see the overall self-confidence, physical self-confidence and social self-confidence level of female college students among cheerleading group, sports dancing teaching and aerobics teaching group had significant differences (P<0.01) through the multiple comparisons. The synthseized confirmation, total affirmation self-confidence level of the female college students of cheerleading teaching group had significant difference (P<0.01) compared with aerobics teaching group and sports dancing teaching group; The action and figure, apperance and facial expression self-confidence level of the female college students of cheerleading teaching group had significant difference (P<0.05) compared with aerobics teaching group and sports dancing teaching group; The classmates and others, family members and teacher self-confidence level of the female college students of cheerleading teaching group had significant difference (P<0.05) compared with aerobics teaching group and sports dancing teaching group.
