There is no denying at the same time of the government and research universities tend to focus scientific research and academic building, ignored the improving and quality of undergraduate education.Even world-class research university with the United States, its graduate education to the national university has set a successful model, but its undergraduate education was not perfect,there are many deficiencies.Therefore, undergraduate education and graduate education and the relationship between the positioning is the process of building our research universities in the first major challenge to face.Striving for excellence, not only the historical mission of research universities, it is the inherent demands of their own development. In order to study undergraduate and graduate education in the dialectical unity of research universities, then promoting the harmonious development.So in this paper, there are the historical research, comparative studies, literature and other research methods. Explore the research university undergraduate education, graduate education and the nature and differences, analysis of current research in undergraduate education and graduate education orientation problems are discussed in line with China's national conditions and school conditions of undergraduate education and graduate of the scientific orientation.
