History map is an important part of Middle school history textbooks which has great significance in Middle school history teaching. In recent years, history questions with pictures are increasing year by year in the college entrance examnation.For the majority of the examinees, this part is very important, but also difficult.Therefore, studying the issue of historical maps in teaching become increasingly crucial.This paper analyzes five aspects of historical maps; and the application for historical maps in junior high school is the key point. The first part is the introduction, which analyzes topics and thesis of the paper, indicating the purpose, meaning and status of current research. With the strengthening of new curriculum reform, people should pay more attention to the education and learning of history map.The second part analyzes and compares all the historical map involved in junior middle school history textbooks (seven, eight, nine grade) systematically.The third part explores the teaching method of history map systematically, which will help history teachers use the textbook map, history map and map filling in a better way. The history teachers should be more qualified. They should not only study the materials earnestly, but also make comparisons. Moreover, they should teach them in various teaching methods and try to change the boring knowledge into students' fun. The fourth section analyzes how students learn historical maps. The historical map is related to the concepts of space, so it is difficult to learnfor all the students. However, it's a. good way to develop thinking ability of students and to train students' imagination in space. This not only good for learning the historical discipline, but also has a great significance to learn other subjects The fifth part analyzes teaching methods of historical maps and takes the 7th grade textbook published in Beijing Normal University as an example. It illustrates the methods of teaching and learning the history maps, hoping to enhance the education in middle school history teaching.There are two innovations in this paper. First, this paper involves all the history maps in textbooks for middle schools, helping teachers understand the historical maps in school textbooks. Second, it applies modern teaching concepts combined with the actual situation of students to discuss learning issues for teachers in history teaching, and explores some constructive comments and suggestions.
