Cooperative learning is a creative and effective teaching theory and strategy. It emerged in the United States in the early 1970s and substantial progress in the study of it was made from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. Since the early 1990s, it has also been explored in China. As a breakthrough in the traditional teaching organization forms and a complement to them, cooperative learning has been widely applied in teaching the subjects, like Chinese, Mathematics, English, Physical Education etc. in China's elementary and secondary schools. However, it is rarely concerned in teaching the subject of Science. This thesis focuses on cooperative learning in teaching the subject of Science (Oxford Shanghai Edition).This thesis studies the whole process of cooperative learning in teaching the subject of Science (Oxford Shanghai Edition), including its theoretical source, its theoretical foundation, its definition, the establishment of cooperative learning groups, the roles of teachers and students, the cultivation of cooperative learning skills, the teaching process, evaluation, reflection etc. The purpose of this study is to explore a concrete cooperative learning mode suitable for teaching the subject of Science (Oxford Shanghai Edition) in Shanghai. This enables teachers to carry out cooperative learning in class in an easier way.Through the practical research of cooperative learning and statistical tests, the effects of cooperative learning on students'academic performance, learning interests and attitude, teaching skills etc.
