Research On The Present Situation Of Urban Father's Involvement In Children-Parenting

Father has an important function in the grow of children, and has a unique influence to children's development of all aspects.It has different function to the mother and nobody can replace.On the other side, the reality which lack of participation of fathers in their children-parenting and the requirements of children for father love when they are growing up ask fathers come to children-parenting.This feature especially prominent in the city.So it has important realistic significance to study the present situation of urban fathers'involvement.Based on using the related theory and collection of fathers'involvement in children-parenting at family and abroad, This study took some 3-6 year olds children's father of three urban area in Baoji City Shaanxi Province as a research object, and took questionnaire and interviews focusing on father's knowledge to participate, the frequency and the content and forms of participate, and effective factors, suggestions and measures.Result of the research shows:to sum up, the fathers'idea about involvement in children-parenting is scientific and right, they can recognize the importance of early childhood education in family, with a scientific transition and parent-child view, and have comprehensive understanding to the role of self,and most of fathers can evaluate themself objectively and can realize their insufficient in the participation.These are worth delightful aspects.But there are some problems:such as one-sided understanding, traditional education ideas, and the consciousness of the role.Secondly, the frequency of father participation is low.Most of two parents can take care of their children,but time overall scarce.Furthermore, the content of father involvement consisted of nine main dimensions:among them, the most frequent activity father got involved in was indirect support,and then from high to low as follows:school encouragment,rule restriction,emotional expression,education guidance, attention and supervision, growth plan and daily interaction, and the last one was self ascension.There are many effective factors such as educational status of fathers, the nature of work, personality traits, family structure, family economic status, the attitude of family members, the age of children and whether of the child, social culture.The author makes some suggestions to father, social, family and preschool education institutions which in order to improve the effective participation.It not only raises public awareness about father participation, but offers reference which to promote the father participation.
