A Study On Family Factors That Affect The Participation Of Young Children's Fathers In Parenting

Father plays a very important role in the growth of children,and has an important influence on their cognitive,emotional and social development.This influence is different from that of mother,and no one can replace it.However,the existing research focuses on the discussion of father's participation in the upbringing from multiple factors,and rarely on the discussion of father's participation in the upbringing from family factors.Therefore,this research studies the influence of family factors on the participation of fathers in the upbringing of children.By means of questionnaire,interview and convenience sampling,368 fathers in Shaoguan city are studied on the family factors affecting the participation of fathers in the upbringing of children.Based on the results of this study,the following conclusions can be drawn:1.There is a significant positive correlation between father's education level and father's participation in parenting.A father's education level affects his participation in parenting.The more educated the father is,the more involved he is in parenting.Father's age and occupation have no direct influence on father's participation in parenting.2.There is a significant positive correlation between family support and father's participation in parenting.Among them,mother's support and grandparents' support affect father's participation in the upbringing.The greater the mother's support,the higher the father's participation;the greater the grandparent's support,the greater the father's involvement in parenting.3.There is a significant positive correlation between annual family income and father's participation in parenting.The family's annual income influences the father's participation in parenting.4.There is a significant negative correlation between family structure and father's participation in parenting.The structure of the family influences the father's involvement in parenting.5.Among the variables of family factors,mother's support has the greatest influence on father's participation in parenting,followed by father's education level,grandparents' support,family structure and family annual income,which has the least direct influence on father's participation in parenting.Finally,the results are analyzed and discussed,and the core influencing factor--mother's support--is extracted from the family factors for explanation and discussion.According to the above research results,this study puts forward the following suggestions from father himself and family members: improve the father's own quality and actively learn the education knowledge;family members encourage and support the father to participate in the upbringing and create a good family atmosphere,so as to promote the father to participate in the upbringing better from the family factors.
