As the other subjects, Pedagogy has its own tortuous history, in which it has the birth, and it grows from sporadic thoughts to systematic theories. At first, it could not be accepted as a formal subject, and finally it could be taught in the university. Under the different backgrounds of society and thoughts, various viewpoints make heated debates. However, so far, the summary and reflection of the history of this subject are not enough. In this paper, I make the history of education in the golden age of the UK as the research object. Through the combing and inspecting to the history of the pedagogy in the nineteenth century in the UK, I try to clarify the historical locus of the development of pedagogy in in the nineteenth century in the UK, and then discuss the interaction during the various theories. On this base, I want to see the dynamic mechanism and the historical contribution of the development of pedagogy.At first, the history of British can be briefly reviewed, so that we can understand its historical heritage systematically, for example, the liberalism, the conservatism, the radicalism, and the pedagogic heritage, concluding the Bacon's arrangement of subjects and Lock's pedagogy. What's more, the society, thoughts, culture in British in nineteenth century need to be elaborated, for these are the background of the development of pedagogy. The third is the main part of this paper, in which the pedagogy during this century is viewed by several degrees, such as scientific pedagogy, socialism pedagogy, utilitarianism pedagogy. In the article, by reading and analyzing the original works and documents, I will explore every degree of pedagogies, and its ins and outs. The interrelation and interaction are also the important point. The last but not the least, I have some remarks which are exploring the forming and growing of the subject of pedagogy in British in nineteenth century, the relation between the history of pedagogy and the educational historiography, the affection of the pedagogy in British in nineteenth century, and so on. Of course, these are exploratory researches. I try hard to do some significative works.This theme I have researched, discusses the development of pedagogy in British in nineteenth century from different degrees, making a point of inspecting historical relations and interactions between each other. On the base of description, I find the development is the product of historical heritage and the spirit of times, and it has the strong ties with the society, culture and thoughts.
