The purpose of this study was to analyse the contents of seven sets of music textbooks in middle school in china, all of the textbooks was edited according to the "the Full-time Compulsory Education Music Curriculum Standard (Experimental manuscript)", and published by local publishing company. By the method of content analysis, the researcher attempted to investigate their editing mode and the content establishment situation. The subjects of this study included Guangdong version, Guangxi version, Hubei version, Hunan version, Jiangsu version, Liaohai version, and Xinan version. Each set of 6 volumes, altogether 42 volumes. Based upon literature review, the researcher developed the research instrument "Content Analysis Table of the junior high school experimental music textbook". The data processing way is mainly the descriptive statistics, the researcher calculated the frequency, and then discuss the similarities and differences between 7 sets of textbooks.The results showed as the follows:1. Seven sets of experimental music textbook in junior high school mainly use the "topical mode", while the Hunan version has simultaneously used "musical activity mode".2. In music teaching activities, Xinan version's "appreciation" and "singing" the highest percentage of pages, while the remaining six versions, the highest percentage of pages is the "music knowledge" and "appreciation", followed by "singing" and "basic practice". In seven versions, the lowest ratio of pages is the "creation" and "performance"3. In seven versions, the present times of the six kinds of music teaching source material are difference respectively, but each version's emphasis point is more similar.
